Synopsis: Brian, played by David Earl, has finally discovered a remedy for his loneliness in this film. What he doesn’t realise is that Charles, portrayed by Chris Hayward, is a far more free-spirited character than he is. Despite their dance parties, pillow fights, and common passion for cabbage, Charles longs to see the globe, but Charles is satisfied with a simple existence in Wales. Charles dancing in a hula skirt and begging to travel to Honolulu was one of my favourite scenes of the film. Their contrasting desires eventually become a cause of contention in their friendship. While the film focuses on Brian and Charles, Louise Brealey’s portrayal as Brian’s love interest, Hazel, is noteworthy.
